Workshop three saw more of the structure of the building coming together. Before really beginning this workshop I came across the same problem that I had in the previous workshop, where the drawing scale was set to metres instead of millimetres. This will probably always be a bit of a problem for me when working in micro station so I must remember to check the units that I'm working in before I begin. Step One: First of all for this workshop, I learnt the modify solid entity tool which can basically shrink one side of a solid object. Throughout my assignment two progress this tool has become quite useful, rather than having to draw another object. Step Two: This is where the model started to look more like a structure rather than just columns and beams by adding joists and beam supports. Instead of drawing each joist separately, I was able to copy one and placing them at even intervals along the beams. In some places in the beam there is a space for a joist but no actual joist. To do this I made the joist and used the subtract solid tool and then deleted the joist. Step Three: The instructions stopped here and I was left to try and figure the rest out on my own! I managed to work most of the extra elements out by looking at the images that were available through the workshop. | With the joists and beam supports added the structure is starting to look more like a building. Where the joists finish there is a gap in the beams. End of workshop three after doing some self guided work. |
