Similar to the walls, the floors also contain the different materials that normally make up the floor. I'm only saying this because on Micro Station, to model a floor, wall or basically any three dimensional object, the slab tool would work and there was no set materials to each. Creating a floor in Revit, however, allows you to be much more specific. This is more beneficial for a builder or an engineer than Micro Station is for example.
There are many functions that were taught in the tutorial videos that I did not need to use in the modelling part of the assignment, such as a sloped floor and floor openings. This may be relevant in the future but was not necessary for this assignment. The ribbon becomes really important through this because that is how to make changes like that to floors- at the top of the screen.
For the assignment, I was assigned both concrete floors and timber floorboards. The concrete was pretty straight forward because all it was, was the slab of concrete. However, for the floorboards, first I had to research what the elements of materials were that made up the timber flooring. I then had to click on edit type to bring up the materials list and assign all the materials to the correct depth as well. The depth also had to all add up to 150mm.
